February Book Haul/Unboxing

I've gone about this a little differently this time! Enjoy a lovely video of my goofy self trying to open up my packages and revealing my new books. I have more on the way, as explained in the video. Can't wait for them to arrive! I'll do another video once they all get here. :)

Julep Maven Welcome Box!

I signed up on Julep for a free welcome box to start my Maven box subscription ! The subscription is $20 for a box with $40 worth of product in it. I picked the "It Girl" style profile and I received three nail polish colors. :) I also put 2 add on polishes in my box, since they were at a great discounted price.

Being a Maven also gets you free shipping and 20% off all your orders! You can also earn points called "Jules" and once you get enough, you can use them for other products. :)

Julep doesn't just do nail polish, they also have makeup, skin care products and more. You can create a wishlist on the site and send it via email too. I've already started a small one. lol

If you'd like to sign up, please use this link! By referring friends, you can earn Jules for a free Maven box! Without further ado, here is what I got in my box!

I received the colors Elle, Bunny and Libby as my welcome box.
I added the color Tracy and the Freedom polymer topcoat as my discounted extras. :)
They also added in two cute little orange cube emery boards. Perfect purse size! lol

The cap covers come off so that you can swatch the polish on the sticker that is on top of the cap!

Elle is described as a plum frost with a sheer/pearl/frost finish.
Bunny is described as a crisp white linen with fine gold shimmer with a creme finish.
Libby is described as a rich teal creme with a creme finish.
Tracy is described as a sparkly ocean blue sea salt (add top coat for a high-shine finish) with a special effect finish.

"In clinical studies, 100% of women who used Freedom Polymer Top Coat passed the ‘smudge test’ after 5 minutes, compared to 0% who used the leading regular top coat."

I am the queen of smudging! So I hope that is true! lol

My Smash Book [5]

It happened again. I didn't post on Smash Sunday! lol Well, here goes another Smash Monday instead! This week's pages are another set of memory pages. This time I used some postcards I bought at a gas station on the way to Republic, MI a few years ago. Republic is in the Upper Peninsula. :) It was a 6 hour drive, but it was worth it!

 Here are previous pages:

We stayed in a beautiful cabin on a lake for Christmas. My parents, sisters, brother-in-law, niece, aunt, uncle and two cousins all enjoyed a relaxing vacation. We went snowshoeing with my dogs, made Christmas ornaments, strung up popcorn and cranberries, went snowmobiling... it was tons of fun. The man that owned the cabin we stayed in came by and showed us how to ice fish. He caught two pike and cooked them up for us! lol It was a very interesting, but tasty experience. We exchanged presents and just had  great time in each others company.

I used a brown paper bag to make the tree and pockets. :) Then I just used my brush tip markers and some stickers to jazz them up. Inside the pocket with the folded opening, I put some cute animal cards inside. I've been using them on most of my pages. lol They are too cute! I put my owl and wolf postcards in the other two pockets. :) I've been looking for something to do with them. Glad I finally found out what!

Happy Valentine's Day + Nail Art!

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

It has been a lovely day! I spent it with my best friend, Sarah. We went to see Winter's Tale at our local cinema. I wasn't sure what to expect and I didn't read the book. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before. It was quite an interesting take on angels and demons, love and miracles. I cried a few times too! I am a hopeless romantic and not much of a movie critic. I don't go to movies to pick on them. I also mentioned that I didn't read the book, so I can't compare! lol

I have Valentine's Day nails! My nails are usually quite long, but I broke a few and trimmed them all down recently. I used light pink, lavender and white polish for the base colors. I used a pink striper to make the hearts on my ring finger. I went for a very simple design because I don't have the steady hands to do anything intricate! lol I can barely make straight lines with the thin detail brushes... So to make it more interesting, I went with the shiny glitter! I was too lazy to clean up that white nail... sorry! I usually let the little messes fade off after some hand washing and such on their own. lol

Thrift Shopping Haul

I am pushing my Wreck This Journal post until tomorrow! Today I am posting the things I bought while thrift shopping today. I got my usual small hoard of books and some clothes today! I only spent a little over $10 on everything. :) I can always count on the local Salvation Army. It is probably my favorite place to shop nowadays. Also, for some reason everything I bought today was green!

This green dress by Blair is from who knows what decade. lol I didn't have a dress like this in my closet yet. I love the color and the three small buttons on the shoulder! It used to have some type of belt around it. I noticed a thin loop on the waist area. No worries, I can find another!

Another teal/green dress, this one is made by Merona. It's light and flowy with a high, stretchy waistband... yay for the slimming effect! ;) This one is so comfy! Can't wait until warmer weather. I have so many new dresses to wear from previous SA trips!

While walking toward the dressing room, the horses on this button up sleeveless shirt caught my eye. I had to do it. It was only a little over $2 and on top of that, the tag color was 50% off today! Couldn't pass it up. I love riding horses and this will be great to wear over a tank top or something in the summer time. :) Pretty prancing ponies!

Here is my book hoard from today! I've made a list of the titles and authors of each one. I filled a bag of books for the lovely low price of $1.99 today. I love this place. I do, I do, I dooooo! I added Goodreads links to the books that were available. :)

Projection - by Risa Green
The Probable Future - by Alice Hoffman
Persuasion - by  Jane Austen
Her Secret Star - by Bennie C. Hall

A Kid's EcoJournal Set (missing summer, sadly) - by Toni Albert
Conejos/Rabbits (Spanish to English) - by Ottenheimer Publishers
Little Rabbit's Loose Tooth - by Lucy Bate & Illustrated by Diane DeGroat

The last little bunny item isn't really a book... it has a cut out on the front and you open the rest of it to see the bunny family. There are 4 square pictures of the baby bunny on the back. Not sure where it came from! lol There was a turtle one too, but I am the bunny lady. ;)

My Smash Book [4]

Happy Monday! I missed Smash Sunday! lol So instead we are doing a Smash Monday. I might put off Mess Monday for a while since it's so much to keep up with! I'll try not to miss Sunday's post next week! :) Anyway, here is another set of pages from my Smash Book! This one was created in memory of my summer trip to Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum!

Here are previous pages:

If you are a Michigan resident or live nearby and have not visited Greenfield Village and The Henry Ford Museum, and you like a bit of history... I suggest you go! You won't regret it. lol I had so much fun and I would love to go again. Greenfield Village reminded me a lot of Yesteryear Village, which my family frequented when we lived in south Florida. Lots of restored homes and other buildings, stores, workshops, working farms... tons of fun! The Henry Ford is mostly about discovering the history of cars, planes and trains. Very, very cool! There were many other exhibits too though. You can't leave without making a cool plastic figurine either. ;) I got one of Abe Lincoln! We went during the Motor Muster, which is a car show. I've never seen so many old cars in one place. I got great photos too.

Here are some of the 100+ photos I took! Click them to make them larger. :)
